Our Life-Day: Thoughts on John IX : 4 by Adolph Saphir and published by Classics Publications.
The pages of this book are a series of sermons which Adolph Saphir preached to his own congregation. They are published in compliance with the desire expressed by many of the people who heard. Except for a few additional paragraphs, and a slight alteration of arrangement, they appear as they were spoken. The practical exhortation which is contained in these words is as obvious as it is solemn: “Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest”.
God, who has assigned to each of us his work, and who has entrusted to us each gifts, and opportunities, has also fixed the length of time during which the task has to be performed, and the stewardship to be exercised.
