The Christian, His Conflict and His Armour by Charles Simeon and published by Classics Publications.
The contents of this book, based on Ephesians Six, are both a warning and a promise. The section of Ephesians 6:10 – 20 is focussed on the armour to be worn by every Christian is one of the most profound, and misunderstood in the Bible. The promise is that if we put on and wear all the armour which the Lord provides, then we will win the battles, not just a war. However, the warning is just as clear, that if we fail to put on and wear all the armour then we are staring defeat in the face.
Simeon was a contemporary of William Wilberforce, and led Anglican Evangelicals through the difficulties they encountered in the first quarter of the 19th century. He was instrumental in encouraging many to give themselves to missionary service, and one such person who took up the challenge was Henry Martyn.
