Isaiah 53 has been called “the evangelical heart of the Old Testament.” We believe that nowhere else in the Word of God will we find, deeper, richer truth concerning the Messiah than in this prophecy. His sufferings and glory are foretold here in many details. As Delitzsch has written “the sufferings and the exaltation of Christ are announced as clearly as if the prophet had stood at the foot of the Cross and seen the Risen One.”
