Although written in 1911, Jessie Penn-Lewis’ “The Conquest of Canaan” still carries prophetic weight today. In it she compares Israel's battles of conquest with the church’s conquest toward the Kingdom today. While the battles we face tend be more spiritual there is much wisdom to be gained in looking to our spiritual forebearers. She prayed that her book “may be of service to the Lord’s people at this time.”
This story of Joshua and the people of Israel on the edge of Jordan, and how they crossed to Canaan and entered into warfare to possess the land, is a very remarkable type of the Church of Christ and its passage to the battlefield. The four chapters of the book contain light on the warfare with the powers of darkness, which may be of service to the Lord’s people at this time.
