The Three Divine Sisters, And Other Select Works of Thomas Adams published by Classics.
Thomas Adams, the author of these works, was the
brother Richard Adams who was one the editors of Charnock’s works on “Providence and on the Attributes.” While there are other Puritans with the name Thomas Adams such as the author of “The Exposition of Second Epistle to Saint Peter” in 1633, very little is known about the author of these works, apart from the fact like many pastors of that period suffered ejection from his church in 1662. These select works consist of twelve sermons which are still as relevant today as when they were first heard in the 17th century.
The titles of the works are:
* The Three Divine Sisters: Faith, Hope and Love.
* The Leaven: A Direction to Heaven.
* A Crucifix: A Sermon upon the Passion
* Semper Idem: The Immutable Mercy of Jesus Christ
* Heaven’s Gate: The Passage to Paradise
* Majesty in Misery: The Power of Christ evening Dying
* The Fool and His Sport
* The Christian Walk: The Kings Highway of Charity
* Love’s Copy: The Best Precedent of Charity
* God’s Bounty: The Blessings of Both His Hands
* Politic Hunting:
* The Taming of the Tongue
