She secretly read articles written by Martin Luther, an excommunicated priest who changed the course of history at the beginning of the protestant reformation. Katharina begins questioning her service to the Lord and eventually leaves the convent. She finds she yearns for a home, a husband and a family and wants all of that as Mrs. Katharina Luther.
