When contemplating a study of the book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ, it is essential that we recognize the four-fold historical account as contained in the four gospel records. If we do not have in mind a clear conception of the features, factors and functions of Christ and His ministry during His manifestation, how are we going to understand the revelation of this same person in His continued administration at the right hand of the Father?
The masterful, meaningful ministry of the God-sent Son, which is set forth in the four gospel records, did not end when He was crucified; He has continued His majestic administration in the same four official capacities ever since His ascension to the right hand of God. We may say with all confidence, that apart from the four gospel records, the four visions of the Book of the Revelation cannot be rightly interpreted or expounded. ln the one there are four accounts of His character in humiliation and crucifixion; in the other we are furnished with four accounts of the character of His exaltation and enthronement.
