Notes on the Pentateuch, Volume 5a - Deuteronomy Part 1 - CCS by C H Mackintosh and published by Classics.
Charles Mackintosh did not set out to provide a detailed commentary of this book but rather to draw attention to scriptural principles, illustrations and examples found in attention to scriptural principles, illustrations and examples found in Deuteronomy. Such is the value and scope of Deuteronomy that the author found it necessary to write two volumes on it. In this volume covering Chapters 1 – 6, he shows that there is no mere repetition of the earlier books in Moses’ words on the Law but much valuable light is shone on the ways and just requirements of God and the evils of the human heart. The author defends the Scriptures against the attacks of liberal unbelievers and shows how applicable they are in this age, though written long ago for people in a situation different from our own.
Mackintosh’s style is warm, very readable and clear. Every reader will gain spiritually from his writings.
