It is Isaiah's conviction that the church needs to remember the consequences of God's holy character and live accordingly if she is to experience blessing and revival.
In a moving passage, God speaks of the Church as 'the people I formed for Myself that they may proclaim my praise (43:21). The church is meant to be filled with the praises of God. Peter takes up this verse and underlines it; we were meant to 'declare the praises of Him who called us out of darkness into His wonderful life. (1Peter 2:9 - 1-10). Therefore, as Isaiah teaches, it is not God's faithfulness, but ours, that is in question.
