Kendra Marty goes to live with her grandfather when she is orphaned at a young age. As a trapper living in the wilderness, George McMannus isn't sure how well he's going to be able to bring up a young lady, but he knows that he and his granddaughter are destined to be together. After George teaches Kendra how to survive in the wilderness, he sends her to school to refine her intelligence and teach her the rules of society. While much of what Kendra must now learn goes against her wilderness knowledge, she must reconcile her two worlds and learn to understand the ways of God.
